Beef pho with Star Anise
Ingredients
8 cups beef broth
1 onion, sliced
3 cloves garlic, minced
1-inch piece of ginger, sliced
-
2 star anise
-
1 cinnamon stick
1 tbsp fish sauce
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 lb beef sirloin, thinly sliced
8 oz rice noodles

Directions
In a large pot, bring the beef broth to a simmer. Add the onion, garlic, ginger, star anise, cinnamon stick, fish sauce, and soy sauce. Simmer for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
While the broth is simmering, prepare the rice noodles according to package instructions.
Divide the cooked noodles among 4 bowls. Top with the thinly sliced beef sirloin.
Ladle the hot broth over the noodles and beef, ensuring that the beef is fully cooked in the hot broth.
Serve the pho hot, garnished with bean sprouts, lime wedges, Thai basil, cilantro, and jalapeno slices.
